But then I saw Lauren's Tweet about the Aussie YA Book Challenge 2011 and I was sold. I had been thinking about joining it for a little while but after looking through a list of potential titles I knew I had to join, so here I am! I've chosen 16 books that I'd really like to read next year, I probably won't get through them all (I'm an international participant so my goal is 6 books, though I'd like to read all 16 if possible) and I'll update any changes to my reading list as I go.

So without further ado here are my choices:
- On the Jellicoe Road - Melina Marchetta
- The Book Thief - Markus Zusak
- Feeling Sorry for Celia - Jaclyn Moriarty
- Jinx - Margaret Wild
- Graffiti Moon - Cath Crowley
- Dreaming of Amelia - Jaclyn Moriarty
- Everything Beautiful - Simmone Howell
- Pink - Lili Wilkinson
- Beautiful Malice - Rebecca James
- Hamlet: A Novel - John Marsden
- White Time - Margo Lanagan
- Finding Freia Lockhart - Aimee Said
- I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone - Stephanie Keuhnert
- John Belushi is Dead - Kathy Charles
- Slice - Steven Herrick
- How to Ditch Your Fairy - Justine Larbalestier
If, like me, you can resist this fab challenge then head over to Irresistible Reads and sign up - you know you want to!
A great list! Thanks for some suggestions! Sorry to say, but I thought The Book Thief was going to be fantastic but just couldn't get into it...ie, something for everyone, I suppose. Many people have told me Love in the Time of Cholera is terrific! (it's on my list)
ReplyDeleteI'm doing this one too. Right now I only know for sure I'm reading The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta.
ReplyDeleteI hope you adore Jellicoe Road as much as I do, it's so awesome.
Marsden rocks!! And I hadn't realised Marchetta had any other books out besides Alibrandi :D
ReplyDeleteI'd consider signing up for this one after looking at your list. I had no idea there were already so many Australian authors already sitting on my TBR shelves. (Melina Marchetta is my favourite author at the moment and I have Jellicoe Road waiting for me)
ReplyDeleteThanks for signing up! Love your list. You have some of my favourites like Melina Marchetta and Cath Crowley on there and some that are on my list. Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteI completely accept the blame! I'm *so* excited about this challenge as I adore Aussie YA and I'm probably going to keep bleating on about it for the whole of 2011. :D
ReplyDeleteLoving the look of that list, too. If you don't have How to Ditch Your Fairy already let me know and I'll bring it to the next event we both attend. :)
