Stephen King Challenge 2011

Now, anyone who knows me knows how much I adore Stephen King. Hands down he's my favourite writer - I bloody love the man and the brilliant but utterly terrifying stories he creates. Honestly, who doesn't love Misery and The Shining? I've read a fair few of his books but I always want to read more so when I saw Book Chick City was holding a Stephen King reading challenge I knew I had to take part!

Challenge Details:

* Timeline: 01 Jan 2011 - 31 Dec 2011
* Rules - There are two levels: Read either SIX (6) or TWELVE (12) Stephen King novels in 2011 (6 is the minimum but you can read more than 12 if you wish!)
* You don't have to select your books ahead of time, you can just add them as you go. Also if you do list them upfront you can change them, nothing is set in stone! The books you choose can crossover into other challenges you have on the go.
* You can join anytime between now and the later part of next year.
* You don't have to have a blog to join in.
* Go HERE to sign up.

I'm planning on reading 12 Stephen King books in 2011 (hopefully more but we'll see!) and I'm aiming for these twelve:
  • Cujo
  • Dark Tower: The Gunslinger
  • The Stand
  • Lisey's Story
  • Night Shift
  • The Long Walk
  • Thinner
  • Needful Things
  • Nightmares & Dreamscapes
  • Everything's Eventual
  • Under the Dome
  • Cell
Just for reference the Stephen King books I've already read are:

  • Carrie
  • 'Salem's Lot
  • The Shining
  • The Dead Zone
  • Christine
  • Pet Sematary
  • Skeleton Crew
  • Misery
  • The Tommyknockers
  • The Dark Half
  • Gerald's Game
  • The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
  • On Writing
  • IT

  1. Good luck with the challenge! You've already read so many of his books, wow. But I'll take your word for whatever you say about SK. His writing is too scary for me (okay, I'm a scardy cat!)

  2. This would have been good for me in 2009-2010, when I read the entire Dark Tower series for the first time. Damn :P Still, there are heaps more I haven't read. In fact I haven't read most of his stuff!

  3. Hi! I just signed up for the 2011 Stephen King Challenge too (I'm #68!), and am dropping by to visit other participants. My focus will be rereading the Dark Tower series, primarily. I see you've got Book 1 in your planned reads: I hope you like it and move on to the other 6!
    Happy reading & reviewing!

Thank you kindly for the comment, you sweet thing.
